TERRY RILEY The Columbia Recordings (2025 UK/EU limited edition 4-CD box set that brings together the seminal Columbia Recordings of Terry Riley, the visionary composer whose radical ideas helped define the minimalist movement and continue to shape the sound of experimental and electronic music today. The collection documents Riley’s most transformative period – when the avant-garde intersected with high-fidelity studio innovation. Beginning with the original 1968 recording of In C at Columbia’s legendary 30th Street Studio, engineered by Fred Plaut, the set also features A Rainbow in Curved Air, Church of Anthrax, and Anthem of the Trinity among other landmark works. From mesmeric electric keyboard improvisations and tape-delay experiments to expansive collaborations, these recordings remain milestones in 20th century music, offering both historic significance and undiminished sonic vitality. Housed inside a clamshell picture box, factory sealed. Recommended)
