When the Waiata / Anthems compilation first landed five years ago, it felt almost unheard of to celebrate Te Reo Mori in modern mainstream music. These translated versions of beloved songs from the likes of BENEE, Tami Neilson, TEEKS, Bic Runga, Shapeshifter, and more, wound up something of a game-changer. Five years on, relive that magic with a very special vinyl reissue! – Flying Out

Bic Runga, Six60, Stan Walker, BENEE, Shapeshifter and more come together to celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Mori 2019. 11 of New Zealands best loved artists performing their hit songs in Te Reo Mori, as well as a vibrant rendition of our National Anthem Aotearoa / God Defend New Zealandby the renowned Htea Kapa Haka.

Recorded over 10 weeks in 2019, Hinewehi Mohi worked directly with artists in the studio to guide their intonation and understanding of the new Mori lyrics, with translations assisted by Sir Tmoti Kretu, one of our greatest living Mori orators and language proponents.

The result is a uniquely New Zealand album, something that as New Zealanders, we can all be proud of, share and celebrate.
